Reflections on my Technology Proposal

Well, it's the end of another class.  This blog post is my final assignment for EDU 777 - Learning Theories and Instructional Designs.  It went by fast and boy did I learn a lot!  A huge part of the class was devoted to coming up with a technology need within my class/school/district, devise a plan to meet that need, pilot the plan, then develop a final written proposal and presentation in hopes to make the plan a reality.

I initially found it difficult to identify a technology need to pursue.  I have limited technology in my classroom and the special education cooperative I work for has limited funds and resources.  In addition, I teach a 3rd & 4th grade self-contained special needs class for the cooperatives Communication Development program.  Many of my students struggle with basic reading and writing skills.  Given all of this, I wasn’t sure what direction to take with my class in terms of technology.

After meeting with my program principal, to get her input, I decided to focus on providing the certified staff within my program with professional development to introduce the them to blended learning.

After I determined a need the rest of the process was not that difficult.  It was just time consuming.  I have enjoyed the process and am looking forward to seeing my plan to fruition.   What I have enjoyed most is what I have learned from my classmates.  I have gained a lot of resources and strategies from reading their discussion posts as they completed the assignments.

I feel like this class has helped reaffirm my desire to be an Instructional Technologist and has given me a little taste of what working in that role will be like.
Enjoy the holidays!!!!
